A passion for creativity with beginnings in furniture design and antique restoration, Bruce Janssen applied his talents and began crafting fine art-inspired signs nearly 45 years ago. Since, The Wood Shop and Classic Signs have accumulated a sizable portfolio of award-winning designs. From classic to contemporary, from synthetic to natural materials, clients appreciate a comprehensive approach to signage and wayfinding. Whether a complete navigational signage system or a second home entrance sign, a talented team of sign makers bring professionalism, attention to detail, and expertise to each project.
Our Team
Sign design and production requires a collaborative effort. Internal talent – designer, craftsman, painter, sculptor, metalsmith, production expert – work together with clients from concept to installation. Whether developing signage for a full resort development team with architects and interior designers or individual cottage owner with family input, The Woodshop team is conscientious, dedicated, and detail-oriented.

Our Process
CONCEPT
It all begins here – the concept provides artistic direction, guides materials choices, and ensures that signage complements related brand components. A sketch or two or twenty, we start here.
DESIGN
The design phase is where vision comes to life. Moving a concept into the architecture of a sign requires technical acumen and savvy. The Woodshop exudes both.
PRODUCTION
Talented crafters and artists with a knowledge of intricate construction techniques produce long-standing signage and wayfinding systems.
INSTALLATION
Installation requires safety and accuracy for both the installer and passerby. The Wood Shop applies the same quality standards to installation as in design and production.
